TERMITE Control

Termite Control

Termites are known as “silent destroyers” because of their ability to chew through wood, flooring and even wallpaper undetected. Termite colonies eat non-stop, 24 hours a day, seven days a week!. There are about 2.000 known termite species in the world.

Each year, termites cause more than $5 billion in property damage – costs that aren’t covered by homeowners insurance policies.

This is why being vigilant about termite control is so important. If you suspect the presence of termites, make sure you call 4 Way Pest Control right away, before they damage your property.

Behavior / Habitat

Termites are very social insects. They live in organized colonies with a king, queen and various castes, each of which have a specialized function. Since termites are blind, they communicate through vibrations and pheromones (chemical signals).

Swarming is the most visible sign of termite behavior around homes. Termites swarm in order to mate and start new colonies. Termites usually are cryptic, meaning that they don’t come out into the open.

Termites eat materials containing cellulose, but the specific termite diet varies by species. Termites may eat dead plants and trees, including materials used in buildings, carpet, insulation, wallpaper, plastic, fabric, or animal feces.

Treatment

Homeowners should consider scheduling a professional termite inspection annually – or at least once every 3-5 years. If you suspect the presence of termites, call 4 Way Pest Control before they cause damage to your property.
